The washing machine is a modern miracle, which can save us a lot of time and hard work to keep our clothes clean. Despite all their efforts for us, we do not always treat them appropriately to maximize their effectiveness and longevity.

That may be because how to clean a washing machine is not as obvious as an oven or dishwasher. There are many compartments to check, and there are unique problems that don't really happen to any other equipment.

Your washer works exhausting. It can remove dirt, stains and bacteria on all clothes without much return. As time passes, dust and soap scum will accumulate. If you have never cleaned the washing machine, it is time for a good scrub. Please review these tips to clean top-loaded or front-loaded washing machines.

1. Clean the detergent drawer

The first element of the washing machine you should clean is the detergent drawer, which is often the dirtiest part of the equipment. Especially if you live with pets and must keep your home clean. In such a small space, it may become dirtier than you think, especially if you recognize yourself in these 12 housework and cleaning mistakes.

To clean it, remove the drawer completely from the machine, and then use household cleaners, warm water and a toothbrush to clean it. When the drawer is out, make sure to clean the inner cavity as well.

2. Clean the Gasket

This is my least favorite part so far. I thoroughly wiped the inside of the rubber gasket with a rag dipped in vinegar. Various furs, molds and other unrecognizable dirt have been placed on the gasket. I applied the vinegar fairly casually, let it sit for a few minutes, and then scrubbed it clean. I found this method to be very helpful in eliminating annoying things. After the gasket is cleaned, I wipe it again with a damp cloth. *Note: Please make sure you work in a well-ventilated place to prevent the vinegar fumes from splashing on you. They can be very effective.

3. Clean the water pump filter

First, make sure the washing machine is empty and unplug the power plug, then find the filter. For most front-mounted washing machines, the pump filter can be found behind the access door near the bottom front of the machine. For high-load machines, check the back of the machine and remove the casing to repair the water pump filter. Remove the filter, pay attention to whether you need to remove small objects such as coins, keys, or hair, and then use a small brush to remove excess debris from the filter. Before replacing, soak the filter in a mixture of hot water and dishwashing liquid for ten minutes.

4. Disinfect the washing machine drum

Fill the bucket with ½ cup of baking soda and a quart of vinegar, and perform a washing cycle that contains only a few clean towels (many manufacturers recommend not to completely empty the washing machine). Use the hottest water setting, maximum load and longest wash cycle. When the cycle is running, wipe the outside of the machine with a cloth soaked in vinegar, and scrub the smaller corners and gaps with a small brush.

Cleaning the washing machine may sound more than a lot, but just consider all the dirt that the washing machine regularly handles! Over time, dirt will accumulate inside the computer, reducing efficiency and efficiency.
